Students for Justice in Palestine enlightens humanity

So appropriate. So perfect. So courageous.

On the first anniversary of the firebombing in Boulder against the peaceful demonstrators for the hostages kidnapped by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023, Boulder’s Students for Justice in Palestine delivered a uniquely creative, indeed courageous, statement — veritably perfect — of the highest humanitarian and psychiatric importance.

Said SJP: The firebomber’s act was the “only sane response available to a rational human being.”

Here it is, we had joined everyone else in failing to recognize Students for Justice Palestine as so much more than a mere political group. Who knew its profound, psychologically teachings? Firebombing is sane and killing is rational. Who knew?

But the insight, not to mention the compassion, of SJP attained still higher inspiration. The sane, rational killer, said SJP, actually “expended his own liberty” in heroically “refusing his comfortable position as the grateful immigrant” in order to pursue his just cause.

Which, of course, SJP is uniquely positioned to evaluate because
SJP boldly incorporates its commitment to justice in its very name.

Therefore, said SJP, the only available sane, rational response to the grave injustice of the firebomber’s conviction and sentencing is to release him from prison. Justice, justice, thou shalt pursue.

SJP, please accept our humble gratitude for your perfect capture of this criticially teachable moment.
