Gwen Sievers Footlik
Colorado Springs resident Gwen Sievers Footlik passed away on September 15, 2026, at the age of 70. A service was held on September 18 at Temple Shalom, with interment at Sons of Israel Cemetery.
A native of New York City, Mrs. Footlik moved to Los Angeles with her family when she was five years old. She received her bachelor’s degree from California State University Northridge (CSUN) and later worked for Universal Studios Hollywood for 25 years. There, she ultimately became a human resources benefits administrator, and later moved to a similar position with Silgan Containers.
Mrs. Footlik was a life member of Hadassah.
Mrs. Footlik and her husband Robert retired to Colorado Springs in 2015.
“Gwen brought warmth, generosity, faith and love into my life,” said Mr. Footlik. “What began so unexpectedly became 41 years of marriage, partnership, shared history and a life together that I will always cherish. No matter how cold or cruel the world around us became, Gwen was the light, the warmth, the support and the love of my life.”
In the final weeks of her life, Mr. Footlik says, his wife was anxious about who would take care of him. “That was Gwen. Even in her own fear and suffering, her tears were not for herself. They were for leaving me, for leaving our daughter Sharon, and for leaving the grandchildren who will never get to know her love in the way she would have wanted.
“Her concern, even then, was for the people she loved.”
Survivors are Mrs. Footlik’s husband Robert; daughter Sharon (Michael) Yocius; grandson Nicholas Yocius; and siblings Michael (Charlene) Sievers and Jeffrey (Bonnie) Sievers.
