The Intermountain Jewish News does not endorse political candidates for office. But ahead of a June 30 primary, we can say this: If you are concerned about rising anti-Semitism and the weaponization of the Israel-Hamas war to attack Jews worldwide, be extremely careful who you vote for.

Some primary candidates in major Colorado races have chosen to associate with, and sought the endorsement of, a popular streamer who has said, “America deserved 9/11.” While he later said that his comment itself was inappropriate, it is clear from his subsequent rhetoric that he does not disagree with the sentiment. It was the proverbial case of the thief more upset that he was caught than with the crime.

What does it say about those who aspire to high office who seek the endorsement of a 9/11-endorser?

Are memories that short, or, for those born after 9/11, is knowledge of history so thin?

The IJN has boosted its election coverage of both Democrats and Republicans. It’s not a normal season. We seek to provide readers with substantial information — and there is still one more in the works for June 26 —before the primary. We hope this political coverage is helpful in advance of the June 30 primary. All the political coverage is on ijn.com; and in the issues of May 8, May 29, June 5 and June 12.

Primary elections matter.
