With all of the heavy, tragic news emanating from seemingly every corner on earth, we can’t forget that it’s still Chanukah and there is still a lot of room for joy and celebration.

Among the goodies we enjoy during the Festival of Lights is the doughnut — a pastry so good that some kind of variation of it seems to exist in every cuisine across the globe. The sufganiya (the Israeli-Jewish version) is a classic Chanukah treat: Fried in oil it reminds us of the miracle of the single flask of oil lasting for eight days.
