A new kosher restaurant, L’Chaim Ma’adenei Melech is slated to open soon at 909 S. Oneida St., Suite 1-B.

The eatery, owned and operated by the Katanov family, will feature Middle Eastern — notably Bukharian — cuisine from Uzbekistan, which L’Chaim’s manager Benjamin Katanov says is “full of flavor boosts.”

The food offerings, prepared by Chef David Katanov, will include kebabs, dumplings, soups and meats grilled over real charcoal and other entrees, as well as American dishes.

The Katanov family has been feeding the Denver Jewish community for 30 years through through its catering business, which originated with Jacob Katanov and whose knowledge of Bukharian cuisine inspired his grandson David to become a chef.

The Katanovs have catered many private and public events over the years, including weddings and special meals and kiddushes at Bais Menachem.

Benjamin Katanov says the aim of L’Chaim is to “elevate the kosher dining experience in Colorado, with a focus on affordability.”

Lunch and dinner will be served in the large main dining room, which will also be available for large private events, such as weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, brises, birthdays, anniversaries and other celebrations.

There is also a smaller dining room for smaller private parties.

The restaurant is decorated in a classic, old-word style with chandeliers and other elegant flourishes.

Katanov says the décor is intended to create a royal atmosphere. That desire is reflected in the Hebrew portion of the restaurant’s name, “Ma’adenei Melech” — king’s delicacies or finest foods.

The elegant, royal motif is carried through to the custom-made dishware, which Benjamin Katanov designed himself.

Some members of the Denver Jewish community got a sneak peek of L’Chaim when it hosted a big Purim party with an East Side shul. The reviews are in, with one attendee saying the restaurant will succeed. “They know how to do food.”

L’Chaim operates under the kosher supervision of the Vaad Hakashrus of Denver-Scroll K.

L’Chaim will be open Sunday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. for dine-in or carryout. The restaurant will close for Passover, reopening on April 14.
